This week’s rant [12/13/07] was from an article that caught my eye.

On November 3^rd of this year - President ‘General’ Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan issued a ‘state of emergency’ (nice way of saying, ‘martial law’) in his country and he fired all his Supreme Court Chief Justices. He says that he’ll lift it on December 16^th (in three days). Let’s see if he keeps that promise. But – the damage has been done – as he fired all the judges who were going to oppose him! Oh well, ‘so much for pathos!’

There’s an interesting blurb about a speech he gave early on in the Martial Law, which he cites U.S. President Lincoln’s suspension of some civil rights during the CIVIL WAR as a back drop his own issued ‘state of emergency’ in Pakistan! Haha, oh boy… I almost made a rant on that one!

Funny that nothing was done to stop him or even to try to persuade him against it. And to top it off - he is still getting U.S. funding to fight ‘terrorism’ and hunt for bin Laden!

Oh, yeah – I should mention that even Holland suspended giving money for development aid because of the ‘state of emergency’ issued. Attaboy Holland!

Is it funding terrorism or funding to fight terrorism? I get confused easily, I guess.

So, what’s the score at in Pakistan? Democracy 100 | Pro-democracy 0? Hmm, anyone keeping track?

Anyways – here I also introduce a new character! ‘Mr. President’! He was originally supposed to a ‘boss’ character I could use with ‘workplace’ related rants. But, I gave him a promotion; as I figure most of you deal with the workplace everyday and don’t really need a reminder of how crappy it all is.
